Executive Director Contractor Position Description
- Part-time, flexible hours; an average of 20 – 25 hours per week, higher during conference time
- Primarily remote work; must be available onsite for Annual Conference, Legislative Day, and other special events
- RDN or DTR residing in Michigan and member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
The Executive Director supports the MiAND Board of Directors and its committees with administrative services and resources. The role offers a rich experience in member growth/management, advocacy, communications, and event planning. Additionally, the position involves budgeting, managing finances, and records management. The Executive Director schedules, coordinates, and attends meetings of several committees. The role assists with the implementation of Board and committee decisions. The position regularly works with other contractors, such as the website manager, social media director, and lobbying firm. Along with Board members, the Executive Director plans and oversees the Annual Conference, Legislative Day, and Virtual Friday Educational Forums. The role prepares and manages event facilities and speaker contracts, and secures sponsors and exhibitors. The Executive Director ensures completion of required documentation making certain MiAND is compliant with the national academy and the state of Michigan.
Experience and Skill Sets
- Software: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Zoom as well as Canva and social media, Constant Contact, PayPal, Dropbox, and IT experience desired. Must have a computer/laptop in good working order and current MS Office software license.
- Accounting: Experience managing accounts receivable and payable, budget forecasting, cost containment, and management of bank accounts. Experience with non-profits desired.
- Organizational Skills: Schedule and manage Zoom meetings and/or in-person; attend and assist during Board and committee meetings.
- Flexibility and Ethics: Able to adapt to annual changes in supervisor and team members; must have a strong code of ethics as defined by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
