Rubina Haque, PhD, RD — President
Rubina is an Associate Professor at Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, MI. She has served as, Chairperson: Michigan Nutrition and Dietetics Educators and Preceptors Practice Group (MiNDEP) 2014-2015; President: Michigan Nutrition and Dietetic Institute (MNDI) 2012-2013; Vice-President: MNDI 2011-2012; Membership Director: Michigan Dietetic Association-2009-2011; Trustee: MNDI; Scholarship subcommittee-2007-2010; and Secretary/Treasurer: MiNDEP 2007-2009.
Amanda Gallaher, MPH, RD — Secretary-Treasurer
Amanda is a Registered Dietitian at the Association for Child Development in East Lansing, MI where she provides nutrition education and nutrition-related technical assistance to more than 4,000 child care providers participating in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). She is also the delegate for the Hunger and Environmental Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group and served on the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Student Advisory Committee.
Leatta Byrd, MA, RDN — Secretary-Treasurer
Leatta works for the Michigan State University Extension, Health and Nutrition Institute. She is experienced in clinical, public health and community nutrition with in-depth knowledge of modern principles and practices in nutrition education designed to promote behavior change. Leatta is a preceptor for Michigan State and Western Michigan University dietetic interns and she teaches food safety education. She is a past President of SWMDDA.
Michele Nikolai, MS, RDN, CSP — Delegate
Michele is the clinical nutrition manager with Sparrow Health System in Lansing, and is also the consultant dietitian with the Michigan State University Cystic Fibrosis Center and is active in clinical research in cystic fibrosis and with ketogenic diet therapy and cancer. She graduated from MSU with her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and is a Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition. Michele enjoys hiking, running, cooking, travel and spending time with her family.
Tina Miller, MS, RD — Nominating Chair
Tina works for Meijer as their Healthy Living Advisor, as well as an Integrative Health Professional (Integrative Health and Lifestyle program, Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine), and Part-time lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics at Eastern Michigan University. Recent MI Academy positions include President-elect 2015-16, Professional Development Committee 2009 to present and Professional Development Chair 2012-13.
Sarah is currently the Clinical Dietitian at the Medical Care Facility and Rehabilitation Services of Ingham County. She also works PRN for Sparrow Health Systems as an Inpatient Clinical Dietitian. Sarah has held roles on the Lansing Dietetic Association BOD and on the Michigan Academy BOD previously. Sarah is also a preceptor for the MSU Dietetic Internship program for long-term care rotations.
Amy Viselli, RDN — Newsletter Director
Amy is the manager of nutrition outreach for United Dairy Industry of Michigan. She serves as a media spokesperson dedicated to improve the health of Michigan families and works on programs focused on school nutrition, Fuel Up to Play 60, general health and wellness, and sports nutrition.
Jevgenija Stepanova, RDN — State Policy Representative
Jevgenija (Jenny) is currently working as an Inpatient Clinical Dietitian at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. She is also the Lead Dietitian for a healthy-living program, Let's Get Healthy!, through the Pediatrics Department at Henry Ford. Born in Latvia, Jenny has spent the last almost 20 years in Michigan and currently resides in Ypsilanti with husband Joe and their cat.
Lynn Spalding, RDN, CSG, FAND — Public Policy Coordinator Legislation
Lynn is the owner of Gerontological Nutrition Specialist, LLC. She has experience in a variety of health care settings, including hospitals, skilled nursing, hospice and assisted living facilities. She is a past chair of the Michigan Dietitians in Healthcare Communities. She currently serves as a member of the Gerontological Specialty Workgroup and liaison to the Specialty Certification Panel for the Commission on Dietetic Registration. She attended Michigan State University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics.
Sara Harmon, MPH, RDN — State Regulatory Specialist
Sara is a program analyst for the Child and Adult Care Food Program at the Michigan Department of Education. She is responsible for training and auditing schools and institutions that participate in the CACFP. Additionally, she works contingent as a clinical dietitian at Allegiance Health, in Jackson MI. Sara served as the Professional Development Chair for the Michigan Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and previously served as the Poster Session Chair and member of the conference planning committee.
Sheryl Lozicki RD, MBA — PR/Marketing Director
Sheryl is the Director of Nutrition and Wellness at Mercy Health Saint Mary's in addition to being an owner of The Dietitian's Digest and co-owner of 2 Dietitians and A Chef. She has worked with clients of all ages to improve their level of wellness by promoting good nutrition, exercise, rest, stress management and regular annual health screens with a primary care physician.
Allison owns a private practice in Lansing, MI, ALT Performance Nutrition, LLC, where she focuses on sports and performance nutrition, as well as general wellness. Current teams that Allison advises include CCM Hockey youth athletes, Geddert’s Twistars USA Gymnastics Club, and Playmakers running clubs. Allison is also the sports nutrition consultant for the Wisconsin Herd through the Gatorade Sports Science Institute. In addition, she has a part time position at Forest View Hospital where she works with patients struggling with eating disorders.
Julie previously worked as a clinical dietitian at the University of Michigan Medical Center in various areas including renal. She also has provided outpatient counseling to students at Michigan State University, as well as worked at a school-based health center in an Ann Arbor middle school and high school where she provided nutrition counseling to students and led fitness groups. She is currently enjoying her role with MAND, as well as serving as the secretary and newsletter editor for the Northern Michigan Dietetic Association, while taking time to care for her three young children.
Kristin Baird, MS, RD, CNSC — Academy Second Century Liaison
Kristin is the clinical-lead Dietitian at Mercy Health in Muskegon, Michigan. She works as clinical inpatient dietitian, with her primary focus in the Intensive Care Unit. Over the years, Kristin has been involved with leadership positions in the Michigan Academy, the Dietitians of West Michigan, and on several committees for American Parenteral and Enteral Society.
Cynthia Rutkowski, MA, RDN, FAND — Academy Foundation/Fundraising
Cinde is a Clinical Dietitian/Nutritionist at Walter P. Reuther Psychiatric Hospital in Westland. She is also part time Faculty at Wayne County Community College District & facilitates Nutrition Didactic Sessions for two Substance Abuse Recovery Programs in Western Wayne county. Cinde is a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics, served 10 years in the House of Delegates representing Michigan and has served on the Boards of the Behavioral Health Nutritionists Dietetic Practice Group & the Nutrition Educators of Health Professionals Dietetic Practice Group. Cinde is a Past President of the Michigan Academy and has held many Michigan Academy Board & Committee positions. She has also held many Board and Committee positions for the Southeast Michigan Dietetic Association and currently serves as SEMDA’s Policy, Procedure & Bylaws Chair.
Susanne Consiglio, RDN — Executive Director
Susanne has managed a successful private practice for 29 years and is in her thirteenth year as the Executive Director for the Michigan Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
