State Dietitian Licensure Board Application

With the passage of HB 4608 licensing medical nutrition therapy, we are seeking RDNs eager to join the Dietitian Licensure Board. Their task: crafting the rules to put this law into action and governing the practice of dietetics in Michigan.

The Michigan Academy seeks to facilitate the Governor’s appointment process for the Dietitian Licensure Board by nominating interested practitioners. Ideally, we would like to put forth a minimum of 9 RDNs with strong clinical nutrition backgrounds and a reputation for ethical conduct to uphold professionalism standards. Licensure boards ensure professionals meet competency and ethical standards to protect the public. Candidates must be dedicated to safeguarding public safety and welfare. Ideally, candidates possess regulatory knowledge.

Diversity on the board is important for varied perspectives. Seeking members reflecting diverse cultures, ethnicities, locations, demographics, and practice areas (hospitals, private practice, long-term care, academia, internship directors).

Anticipate 4 to 6 annual meetings in Lansing, with potential virtual committee sessions as the board drafts rules.

Individuals interested in serving on the State Licensure Board should apply by answering the questions below and submitting your resume by Thursday, May 2 to help shape the future of medical nutrition therapy in Michigan.
